A Very Important Poll About Agatha Christie

If I decide to embark on a systematic reading of Agatha Christie, should I. . .

. . . read all her mystery novels in publication order, skipping the ones I've already read
7(58.3%)
. . . read all her mystery novels in publication order, including the ones I've already read
2(16.7%)
. . . read ALL her published fiction in publication order, INCLUDING those romances she wrote under a different name
1(8.3%)
. . . cool it on the Christie; that is too many books
1(8.3%)
. . . something else entirely?

I chose option 1 with the caveat that you should re-read those you may want to re-read. :D

Aren't you already doing this? Or not in order? I would suggest maybe sometime when you've read them all, you just re-read the Poirot, Miss marple and other series in order? I don't know. Or read them all. Since you like reading your way through things in order. :-)

I've been reading Christie off and on in a totally unsystematic way, which is probably fine, but it might be nice to keep track & also to have some sense of chronology/development/whatever. There are SO MANY that if I don't get systematic, I'm going to be plagued by the feeling that I'm missing something.

But I'm still on the fence about whether to take the Total Christie Plunge now or later. Maybe by the time I decide, I won't have that much left to read!

That's understandable. I don't think she matters as much as other authors to read in order, though. I am a systematic type of person myself, too so I sympathise - although I read AC all over the place initially but then re-read in order. Maybe you could just tick off a list of what you've done and hunt down the remainder in a more orderly fashion and save the big re-read for later? Unless of course, you just feel like re-reading now, in which case, why not?

(I am unhelpful! lol).

I chose option #3, because I didn't even know Christie wrote romances so CLEARLY you should read them and report on them to us. *nodnod* That makes perfect sense.

Under the name Mary Westmacott! I'm curious about them, and there are only six, so. A drop in the ocean, might as well throw them on the pile.

I say cool it only because I read all 56 Sherlock Holmes stories in a row (I finally got hold of an annotated copy, it was massive) and it sort of put me off ACD for years afterwards, even though I really liked them before. (And now I love them, to be fair).
